How to Select Your Wedding Color Palette

Choosing a wedding color palette can be an exciting part of wedding planning! Here are some tips to help you select the perfect colors for your special day:

  1. Consider your wedding theme and venue. If you are having a beach wedding, you may want to stay away from bright, vibrant colors and opt for more muted tones. If you are having a formal affair, go for bold hues that will bring a touch of elegance.

  2. Pick a color scheme that complements the season.  Light pastels feel appropriate with cool tones of spring flowers.  Bright, bold colors work well with warm toned flowers in a summer wedding.  Selecting earthy tones such as browns, oranges, yellows, and reds are on point in the fall, while jewel tones are perfect for a winter wedding.

  3. Think twice about white as a color palette for wedding flowers.  White flowers are best when local grown, not shipped, because they tend to bruise.  And white flowers may photograph “flat” if they lack contrast.  You want flowers to “pop” against your white or ivory wedding gown, so encourage your florist to frame white flowers with neutral and ivory tones and foliage to create dimension.

  4. Choose a few accent colors to bring out the main color scheme. You can use these colors in your invitations, decorations, and other wedding elements.

  5. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors! You can combine shades and textures to create a unique and beautiful palette that you and your guests will love.

By following these tips, you will be sure to find the perfect wedding color palette to make your special day even more memorable.
